vCoffee

Café POS & fiscalization — A modern POS for cafés and hospitality, built for the Serbian market and sold as a monthly subscription. Guests order by scanning the table QR; waiters, kitchen and bar work from phones; the owner runs everything from an admin. The design is "thick local, thin cloud": a Tauri desktop box runs a Rust (axum) server, an encrypted SQLite (SQLCipher) store and a React PWA over the venue LAN — fully offline. Serbian fiscalization (ESIR → LPFR) with central licence control over a VPS.

What was built

  • POS for waiters, bar and kitchen screens — all from a phone
  • Per-table QR ordering for guests, no app and no sign-up
  • A Rust (axum) server inside the Tauri box that sits in the venue
  • Encrypted local database (SQLCipher) — turnover data never leaves the venue
  • React PWA over the venue LAN, works offline when the internet drops
  • Serbian fiscalization: ESIR → LPFR flow and fiscal receipt printing
  • Central licence and subscription control on a VPS
  • Owner admin: turnover, items, shifts, reports

Layers of the system

The local box (thick local)

Tauri 2RustaxumSQLCipher
  • One installer per venue — it starts and works with no cloud
  • A Rust axum server holds the API inside the venue, clients share the LAN
  • SQLCipher store for receipts, items and shifts
  • A queue of fiscal receipts that waits for connectivity, then syncs itself

Client surfaces

ReactPWANode.js
  • Waiter POS, bar screen and kitchen display as a PWA
  • QR menu per table, tuned for phones and poor connectivity
  • The React PWA installs on a phone and behaves like an app

The cloud (thin cloud)

Node.jsPHPVPS
  • Licences, subscription and updates — the only thing that goes to the server
  • Per-venue version control and remote diagnostics
  • Turnover data stays in the venue; the cloud only sees the licence
